By: Donald Lewis Lynskey

My grandfather, William Emmett Lynskey was born in Athenry, County Galway, Ireland in 1844.  He came to America and went to Huntsville, Ala.  He died Oct. 15, 1916 at age 72.  He married Mary (called Molly) McDonald in Nashville, Tenn.  She was born in Nashville, Tenn. in 1859, died in Huntsville, Ala., Feb. 2, 1905 at age 46.  My grandfather pioneered Huntsville.  He owned a lot of property there, hotel, bakery all kinds of property.  They had two girls:  Katherine, born Oct. 14, 1875 and died at birth.  Maris Stella born Jan. 18, 1881, died Nov. 9, 1881 when  9 months old.  They had two other children, Christopher Homer Lynskey, my father, who was born in Huntsville, Ala., Oct. 28, 1882 and Randall William Lynskey was born in Huntsville, Jan. 27, 1888.  My father married Louise Amy Baron in Huntsville.  She was born July  20, 1884 and died Nov. 6, 1920.  They were married in Huntsville, August 6, 1908.  Randall, the younger brother, married Frances Mary Young of Cincinnati, Ohio.  They were married in Atlanta, Ga., Oct.31, 1918.  These were the only two Lynskey boys.  However, my grandfather William Emmett, who came from Ireland adopted two girls, cousins of his wife, Mame and Annie Cullen.  He adopted one of them and the other one just lived there.  Something happened in the family.   My father had two boys of which I am the oldest, Donald Lewis.  I was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, Aug. 25, 1909.  The reason for that was my father was going to the University of Cincinnati, studying medicine.  He became a doctor and practiced in Cincinnati.  I married Pauline de Lettre Coleman in Miami, Fla. June 1, 1935.  I had one brother, who is ten years younger than I, William Christopher Lynskey, born in Akron, Ohio May 13, 1920.  He married Rose Scharf.  They have two boys, Christopher, named for my father and Donald, named for me.

My children, the oldest Donna Pauline Lynskey, born June 3, 1936.  She married Bernard Leo McCullough Dec. 29, 1956.  They have seven children Garry Leo, Julie Louise, Bonnie Lynn, Randy Lewis, Gregory Leo, Russell Lane and Janice Lisa.   All of their middle names begin with "L".  My oldest boy is John Christopher Lynskey named for my wife's father John and my father Christopher.  He married Patricia Usher, a New York family.  They were married Feb. 7, 1959.  They have ten children John Patrick the oldest boy.  Eileen Patricia was born in Jacksonville, Fla. - the only one born there.  James Donald, Elizabeth Ann, adopted, Thomas Paul William Edward, Kathleen Marie, Karen and the youngest just adopted is Christopher.  Our third child was a girl, Louse deLettre.  She died at birth.  The next child was Paul Coleman, the second son, was born in Miami, Fla. April 14, ____.   He married Linda Lee Schlick in Chicago, June 26, 1971.  He has one child, Lisa Morgo.  My youngest daughter is Eva Baron.  She is married to Frank Smythe McCoy, Jr. and the live in New Orleans.  They were married in Miami, July 31, 1971.  They have two girls Jill and Monica and this spring they had a boy Bryan.  [WRITERS NOTE:  I need the year Bryan was born to determine the date of this writing 1973 - 1980?]  This is the end of my family.

Randall is my Dad's youngest brother.  He remained in Huntsville, Ala. and had a farm in the outlying area.  He also had a bank which he inherited from my grandfather.  He married Frances Young from Cincinnati, Ohio.  He had four boys and a girl by his first wife.  They were Emmett and Randall who are deceased.  Donald who still lives in Chattanooga, Tenn.  William (Billy) who lives in Atlanta, Ga. and the one girl named Mary Frances for her mother.  Her mother Mary Frances died in childbirth with the next child.  Randall later remarried in Huntsville, to Katherine, called Kay, who was from Huntsville.  They moved to Chattanooga, Tenn.

They had a boy William and a girl Katherine, called Kitty.  Kitty married a Marine, a green beret.  He was in special service and was shot down in Korea.  His name was Capt. Casey.  They had three children, two boys and a girl.

William, Randall's son, the youngest boy has a business in Chattanooga, doing very well.  He has five or six children.  Randall has no children.  He was in the Navy.  My youngest son is a Navy Fighter Pilot.  He is stationed in Pensacola, Fla.

Jim Lynskey who lives up the street from me looks exactly like the pictures of my grandfather.  His father, Maurice, went to England and he lived there for a while.  Then later, he came over to America and settled in New Jersey.  He came to Miami some years later and lived with Jim.  He died here in a Nursing Home, three or four years ago.  He was one o f the Lynskey boys from Athenry.

Gaston [William Gaston Lynskey], you look like the younger brother Randall.

My son John, on a business trip to County Mayo, Ireland, looked up the records and found that a John and Ellen Lynskey had three children, one girl, Mary born Sept. 30, 1981 and a second birth another girl named Mary, born Dec. 28, 1873 and a third birth, a boy James born Aug. 23, 1879.
